Event Food Trends 2014

Here at Vanilla in Allseasons, we are always looking ahead. Not only because we are passionate (marginally obsessed) about food,
but also so that we can be sure to offer our clients the latest food ideas and suggestions, should they need them.

Today we share our top event food trend predictions for 2014.

1. Colour

A trend that looks set to stick around this year is one of vibrant, pretty colours. Many people are choosing to move away from
classic white and neutral shades and are opting for a colour scheme that is bold and punchy.

A clever way to add colour to your event is with a stylish dessert table or edible place setting. Macarons are perfect for this!

Late last year, we catered for the fabulous wedding of bridal gown queen, Charlotte Balbier. She chose a selection of
pretty macarons which added colour and a chic, classic feel to her event food.

Our friends at Mum’s Macarons
provided a vast selection of these delicate sweet treats in a variety of shades and flavours.

2. Best of British

As you may know, we love fresh and seasonal food and always try to source the very best ingredients from local suppliers.

With this in mind, we have been very pleased to see a rise in popularity for traditional British dishes. From miniature roast
beef and Yorkshire pud canapes, to tiny cones of fish and chips and full hearty English roasts.

Our miniature roast beef & Yorkshire pud canapés with horseradish cream always go down a treat!

3. Quirky Themes

Although many people love to stick with classic, traditional style, we have seen a huge rise in themed weddings and events.
There are no rules and many of our clients are looking for unique ideas to theme their celebrations.

We love to work with our clients to create unusual and exciting menus that best represent them and their personal style.

You may wish to select a traditional menu from your home country, or from a place you visited on holiday.
Last year we created menus for an American party, a Caribbean theme and traditional west African food
to name but a few!

Perhaps you want a particular theme for your event, such as a fun fair or circus theme. An era such as 70’s is ideal for an anniversary party.
It’s completely up to you!

Whatever you choose in 2014 – we can help. Please feel free to contact our team to discuss your ideas.

Gunpowder, Treason and… Food!

This week we catered for a fantastic bonfire party!

The cold Autumn night was filled with colour as our party host laid on a amazing fireworks display for 200 guests.

After all the excitement, those guests needed some hearty, warming food!

We served –

Spiced Pumpkin Soup
Sausage Canapes
Braised Lamb with Sweet Red Cabbage
Brown Mushroom Risotto

The savouries went down a treat and everyone was well and truly stuffed! Or so it seemed…
they all seemed to be able to make room for some of our traditional homemade parkin!

The party was a huge success. But it wasn’t just for fun.
Hosts Martin and Pat McMillan hosted this very special party
to raise money for an amazing cause – The East Cheshire Hospice

So far, they have managed to raise £2,155.00 from the event. A fantastic achievement!

A wonderful time was had by all and we thoroughly enjoyed catering for the very special event.

thankyou

A Little Thanks…

We recently catered for a Baby Grow charity ball at Chester Polo Club. It was a privilege to be asked to cater for the charity event and we were even more overwhelmed by the thanks we received from them:

Thank you Note

I would like to say a big thank you to Vanilla in Allseasons for the fantastic catering at my recent charity ball. The food was delicious and many guests commented on how good it was.

As the organiser of the event, I was incredibly grateful for the exceptional service. Nothing was too much trouble for Adam and his team. Although I had lots of last minute additions to the event, all these were calmly accommodated. At one point Adam even stepped in to help put with an electrical problem the band had!

I can wholeheartedly recommend Vanilla in Allseasons for their excellent food and exceptional.

Event Organiser

We just want to say a huge thank you and well done to everyone involved in the event.

Father’s Day

What better gift for dad on Father’s Day than cooking him something special? Get creative in the kitchen to show that special man in your life how much you care.

Spoil him rotten with breakfast in bed, a lunchtime treat or light the barbecue for a laid-back evening.

Today, we share some recipes ideas with you…

Breakfast – Traditional Full English

Father's Day - Full English

What man doesn’t enjoy a big fry-up of sausages, bacon, eggs, toast and butter? This Father’s Day make it a really special treat by serving it to dad in bed with a steaming mug of tea or freshly-squeezed fruit juice.

Lunch – Steak with Chimichurri Sauce

Father's Day - Steak

Nothing is more masculine than a juicy grilled steak. Served with a picquant South American sauce comprised of parsley, oregano, garlic and chilli. This mouthwatering meal will leave your dad smiling as he leaves the dinner table. Don’t forget the chips…homemade are always the best!

Dinner – Pizza on the Barbecue

Father's Day - Pizza

If weather permits, lighting the barbecue is a perfect idea for a chilled out alfresco dinner. The traditional trimmings are always a favourite, particularly if you take cooking duty off your father’s hands. But why not try a pizza on the barbecue?

The heat of a hot barbecue is perfect for making pizza, coming in a close second to an Italian pizza oven. Provide a selection of your dad’s favourite toppings and let him create his own pizza masterpiece.

Dessert – Marmalade and Whisky Bread and Butter Pudding

Father's Day - Bread and Butter

Take your dad’s tastebuds back to his school days with this traditional dessert. The marmalade and whisky twist make this the ultimate grown-up comfort food and will be perfect after evening drinks.

So, what are you waiting for? Get creative in the kitchen and show your dad that you appreciate him this June 16th with some tastebud tantalising recipes.

Going Green

Every now and again, we like to venture out of V in A HQ to sample the culinary skills of others. It’s a great way to gather new ideas and inspirations.

Last night, a few of our team headed along to Greens restaurant in Didsbury to sample some delicious vegetarian food.

Greens Restaurant

Adam has been visiting for years and rather likes to think that he has been instrumental in the success of Simon Rimmer, celebrity chef and owner of Greens restaurant. Simon and James weren’t so keen on the idea of a vegetarian restaurant and discussed where they might go for a burger after the meal.

However, everyone was pleasantly surprised to find the food not only filling but absolutely delicious! We particularly loved the vegetarian black pudding and the deep fried oyster mushrooms. The salsa verde was absolutely amazing and we picked up loads of ideas for clever garnish’s and ingredients.

At the end of the meal, James proclaimed that he was stuffed. No burgers necessary!

We can provide all manner of food for your party, wedding or event. Vegetarian, specialist or otherwise. Please feel free to give us a call if you would like to discuss your ideas.
