Upper House Hayfield

Here at Vanilla in Allseasons, we pride ourselves on working with some of the most bespoke wedding venues in the country. Upper House, a former hunting lodge stands alone on the magnificent mountain of Kinder Scout in the Peak District National Park.

Upper House

Nestled within 30 acres of private woodland, and with exclusive fishing and sporting rights to Kinder Reservoir, Upper House is a spectacular remote country retreat featured only 24 miles from Manchester city centre.

Grounds

A castellated fortress that is wrapped around a stunning central courtyard, the house comprises of a medieval banqueting hall, original inn and luxurious accommodation for up to 21 guests.

Upper House Doorway

As expected from any historical building, each room is steeped in nostalgia as is clear when you step through the grandiose venue. The ancient farmstead dating back to at least the 14th Century was used as a shooting lodge for the Mayor of Manchester, James Watts before becoming a centre for recreation. Upper House even played host to famous author, Agatha Christie as she would visit for seclusion to devise her legendary plots.

Interior

The interior has been carefully restored to bring it into its former glory and still features its original detailing. Many of the weddings we have catered for have stripped back on decoration allowing the venue’s beauty to be the theme of the wedding.

Matt Johnson

Matt Johnson is one of the most successful independent singer in the UK. At only 27 years old he has had success in the entertainment industry and achieved goals beyond his years. Starting out at the young age of 10, Matt began to gain invaluable experience. He’s had success in musical theatre, with his highlights including playing the Artful Dodger in Cameron Mackintoshes’ West End production of Oliver Twist, and a principle role in ‘Les Miserables’, the world’s most successful musical.

Matt Johnson

At 16, Matt had an experience that would change his life and perception of music forever. He auditioned, along with 130,000 others, for a place in a five piece boy band on ITV’s ‘Popstars The Rivals’. Matt went on to win a place in the winning group, One True Voice. The band had success with their first single, ‘Sacred Trust’ when it reached number two in the UK official charts.

Three years later, Matt wanted to try something new and formed a Pop/Rock band called State Warning, with their peak success being supporting act to musical legends The Who and the multi platinum album selling band, Keane. Over the past five years Matt has performed at over 1000’s of gigs, including the privilege of performing for many now happily married couples across the UK.

Matt Johnson

Matt spends his time marketing himself as a songwriter and plans to release a song through iTunes in the near future. Due to his extreme popularity, Matt spends most weekends performing at weddings and functions, where he performs at 120 to 140 a year. Our advice is to enquire early if you are thinking of hiring Matt for your function as dates go extremely fast.
