This weekend Vanilla catered for a wedding held in one of Britain’s hidden treasures, Upper House Hayfield. UHH is located within 30 acres of private woodland and is an original luxury accommodation for up to 21 guests. The house offers unparalleled views of Kinder Reservoir and Kinder Scout, if you love walking and countryside pursuits, there is simply nowhere better. Upper House has a long fascinating history which includes intriguing characters such as Sir James Watts, Mary Augusta Ward and Agatha Christie.

Upper House stands isolated on the side of Kinder Scout, at the convergence of ancient pack horse routes from Glossop, Hayfield and Edale. Sir James Watts Mayor of Manchester sold the land to Stockport Water Authority for the Reservoir in the late 1800’s, Sir James insisted that he retain Upper House as his shooting lodge and set about improving it with the talented architects, the estate was then used solely for recreation, with two woodlands being created to enhance the available game stocks on the moors.

The beautiful location of Upper House and the great food service resulted in a extra special wedding day for Vanilla’s very own Simon, we hope you enjoyed our menu of whipped goats cheese and pickled veg, halibut, cheshire smoked beef artichoke puree and oxtail croquet and our trio creme brûlée chocolate pot tart tartan.

Overall the menu, location and ceremony came together to make a lovely day for everyone. We would like to congratulate Simon and his lovely new wife Elizabeth.
